The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department publishes an annual Crime and Arrest Statistical Summary (CAASS). This publication contains crime and arrest data for the entire Department, the patrol stations, the contract cities, and unincorporated areas served. In 2003, the CAASS was expanded to include Reporting District (RD) level data. An RD is the smallest geographical area used to report crime and arrest data. Each patrol station is assigned a set of unique RD's that defined the incorporated and unincorporated areas policed. The Sheriff's Department has a total of 23 patrol stations that police 40 incorporated cities and the entire unincorporated County area.
The Sheriff’s Department’s public crime data feed, which supports CrimeMapping.com, has been temporarily disabled. The data feed is currently being verified and updated to provide official crime data on a monthly basis. It is expected that the data feed will be resumed in the near future.
