7	Statistical Introduction	Area			In 2002, Urban Research used Census data to determine area estimates, whereas in 2001 and 2003, Urban Research used the Thomas Brothers base map to determine area estimates, which is more accurate. In 2002, the Santa Clarita Station essentially soaked up hundreds of square miles of Lancaster, Palmdale, and Crescenta Valley Station areas due to the discrepancy.
