Captain Steven M. McLean
Steven McLean, a 30-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's
Department, has been promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and
assumed command of Altadena Station.
Captain McLean began his career with the Sheriff's Department in 1980.
After graduating from the Sheriff's Training Academy, his assignments included
Men's Central Jail, Wayside Honor Rancho-Minimum Facility, East Los Angeles
Station and Special Enforcement Bureau.
In 1994, he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Pitchess
Detention Center-South Facility, East Los Angeles Station and Executive
Division as Aide to Sheriff Lee Baca. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2000 and
assigned to East Los Angeles Station, Training Bureau, Office of the Assistant
Sheriff and Altadena Station.
Captain McLean is a recipient of the Medal of Valor Award, Distinguished
Service Award, Exemplary Service Award and Quality of Service Award. He has
also been recognized by the Board of Supervisors while assigned to the Training
Bureau as a Lieutenant.
Captain McLean holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of
Justice, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Arts, and a Master's Degree
in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation
National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Captain McLean resides in Stevenson Ranch with his wife, Kathy. He has
two daughters: Kristen, 12, and Lisa, 9. In his spare
time, Captain McLean enjoys running and going to the gym.
