Parks Bureau Deputies Help a Struggling Family with Christmas

Deputies from Parks Bureau's Special Problems Team are helping an Antelope Valley single parent who is struggling financially, as many are during these difficult times. Brandy Levy is a high school teacher and mother of four children who had to put her career on hold when her daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Days of short 8 mile commutes to work turned into daily 130 mile round trips to the hospital in Los Angeles where her four year old daughter receives treatments to combat her cancer. The time caring for her daughter took away her ability to work and because of this, her pay has been greatly reduced and Christmas for her and her children looked bleak.
The Special Problems Team found out about Brandy Levy's situation and after meeting with her made it their mission to make sure Brandy and her children would have a Christmas to remember. The deputies who first raised money amongst themselves contacted numerous local businesses who were more than willing help. At 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011, at George Lane Park (5520 West Avenue L-8, Quartz Hill, 93536) Brandy Levy and her children will be presented with the many donations the deputies have accumulated.
