Confronted by a knife wielding man, a Lancaster deputy used his Taser to prevent deadly force
Around 9 PM on Friday April 17, 2013, Lancaster deputies received a report of a man with a knife who was threatening to kill his mother inside a home in the 43700 block of Mikosasky Avenue in the city of Lancaster.
When the deputies entered the kitchen area of the home, they were confronted by 23 year old Paul Salvador. Salvador was armed with a knife and highly agitated. When the deputies ordered Salvador to drop the knife, he refused and lunged at one of the deputies. That deputy was armed with one of the newly assigned X26 Tasers. Using his Taser, the deputy was able to stop Salvador's advance and prevent him from assaulting anyone. Once incapacitated by the Taser, Salvador was taken into custody without further incident.
Salvador was arrested for making criminal threats and assault on a peace officer. He was booked at Lancaster Station.
The deputy commented that without the new X26 Taser, he would have had little choice but to use deadly force to prevent the assault.
