Madre Fire Information for Duarte Residents
The fire in Van Tassel Canyon and Fish Canyon pose no threat to Duarte. There have been no buildings lost and no injuries reported. As of 12:45 PM the fire area covers 250 acres and is reported to be 30% contained.
Resources deployed nearest the Duarte area include , air assets, (helicopters and planes dropping fire retardant and water), 2 forest service fire crews, a dozer, and an L.A. County hand crew. They are currently assigned to mop up and patrol. The area is steep terrain and loose rock making the area hazardous for fire crews and making access to the fire areas difficult.
There are no evacuations for any areas affected by the fire. Encanto Park is closed and will be used for fire crews to sleep. As such, Encanto Parkway will be closed between Hacienda and Royal Oaks Drive.
