Five people arrested during a gang sweep across the city of Compton

On Thursday, January 9, 2014, the Compton Gang Prevention Team conducted high-visibility saturation patrols. The team focused their efforts in the city of Compton where gang members are known to congregate.



As a result of the operation, five people with gang nexus, in two separate incidents, were arrested in possession of firearms. In addition three of the five people were additionally charged for possession of illegal narcotics (Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Marijuana). This gang sweep throughout the city is in response to recent gang violence. This will be an ongoing operation with a zero-tolerance approach to any gang activity.



Four people were taken into custody and booked into Los Angeles County Sheriff's Century Regional Detention Facility, in Lynwood on felony charges.



One person was taken into custody and booked at Los Padrinos Detention Center, in Downey on felony charges.
