Robbery and Assault Charges Filed against La Puente Man stemming from March 4th Gas Station Armed Robbery.

March 4th, 2013

On Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at approximately 6:30PM a man entered the "Mobil" gas station located on the 17900 block of Valley Boulevard in the county area of West Valinda. The man, concealing his identity by the use of a bandanna and a hooded sweatshirt, was armed with a stun gun. The suspect approached the store clerk and demanded money while pointing the stun gun at the clerk in a threatening manner.

As the store clerk began to collect money from the register, the Suspect pressed the stun gun against the clerk's body and attempted to shock him. The clerk, seeing his opportunity, began to fight with the Suspect. During the struggle, the clerk was able to tear away the bandanna covering the suspect's face, and pull off the shirts worn by the suspect. This enabled the store video cameras to capture video of the suspect. The clerk was able to run from the suspect and lock him inside the business alone, as the clerk summoned help. The Suspect proceeded to drink several beers from the store's coolers, and eventually broke a window in his effort to flee. He escaped in an unknown direction.

Through follow-up investigation by station detectives, the Suspect was later identified as Eddie Gonzales, a 56 year-old resident of the city of La Puente. Industry Station patrol deputies assisted detectives in the search to find the suspect.

On Friday, March 14, 2014 deputies located Suspect Gonzales in the city of La Puente and arrested him for his outstanding arrest warrants.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014, Industry Station Detectives met with the District Attorney's Office in West Covina and filed robbery with special circumstances, assault with a stun gun, vandalism, and petty theft charges against Suspect Gonzales.

Suspect Gonzales is currently being held without bail at Men's Central Jail with a next scheduled court date of March 20th, 2014.
