As summer months heat up, so do tempers. Many assaults, especially those involving domestic violence, are the result of individuals who lose control of their anger. Here are some indicators to look for which may indicative of pending abusive behaviors, including assaults:
Threats of violence
Breaking or striking objects
Use of force in sex
Possessiveness and lack of trust
Verbal abuse
Jealousy
Name calling and put-downs
Unrealistic expectations
Transference of blame for problems
Physical force towards you or others
Cruelty to animals and/or children
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the County of Los Angeles have resources available to help those in need.
Initially, during any emergency/or threat of a violent attack, call 9-1-1.
