On Saturday, May 31, 2014, deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Station made contact with a 16-year-old female victim. The 16-year-old victim reported that on Thursday, May 27, 2014, at approximately 2:15 pm, she was putting gas in her vehicle at a gas station located in the area of Pico Canyon and The Old Road.
The victim reported that while pumping gas she was approached by a Black male driving a later model black vehicle. The Black male was described as an approximately 25-year-old man, 6 feet tall, with a thin build. The male asked the victim if she was still in high school. The victim responded, "Yes." The victim walked away, and the male followed her. The male continued to stare at her. The victim stated she felt very uncomfortable and scared as the male continued to follow her. The victim got into her vehicle and drove away (ref -06681).
Detectives were able to obtain surveillance photos taken from the gas station, which depicted the male who contacted the victim. Those photos are now being released.
Detectives are also investigating another incident of an alleged Child Annoyance that occurred on Friday, May 23, 2014, at approximately 8:10 am. This incident occurred in the area of Honby Street and Cedarcreek Street, Canyon Country.
A 13-year-old female reported she was approached by a male in a black vehicle, while walking to school. The driver (male) asked the 13-year-old female if she needed a ride. The girl turned around and began walking in the other direction. The same vehicle and male then turned around and drove slowly past her again. The 13-year-old victim then ran to her friend's nearby home because she began to fear the vehicle and man following her. The vehicle then drove out of view (ref -06334).
At this time, both incidents are under active investigation. Detectives are unsure if the incidents are related or if there are one or two separate suspects. If you recognize the male in these photos or have any further information that can assist detectives in this investigation, please contact Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Detective Campbell at 661-255-1121 or at dwcampbe@lasd.org
If you would like to remain anonymous, please call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
