The tenacity of a sheriff's special assignment team continues to return stolen "I-Mac" computers to students in Rowland Heights eight months after the crime.
On September 23, 2011, deputies from the Walnut / Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station responded to a burglary which had occurred during the early morning hours at Killian Elementary School in Rowland Heights. The three suspects who had been captured on school surveillance, made off with 9 "I-Mac" computers.
Deputies had little to go on other than the suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks to cover their face. In most cases, nothing further could be done.
A special assignment team from Rowland Heights decided to "leave no stone unturned" in their quest to return the computers to the students. Their investigation has been on-going for the past eight months. During this time, they have been working closely with the Apple Corp.
The team followed up on numerous leads, taking them as far away as Palmdale and Lancaster. Three court orders were obtained, as well two search warrants. A total of six locations were searched. The investigation is still on-going and the suspects are still yet to be identified.
Today at 11:00 A.M., deputies from this team will be returning four of the stolen computers to students and teachers at Fajardo Elementary School (18550 Fajardo St.) in Rowland Heights. (Killian is under reconstruction at this time). Deputies will reunite the lost computers in their quest to show their spirit to get the job done.
