A tenant, soon to be evicted, is suspected of firing several shots Thursday at his apartment manager's home.
On 5/31/12, deputies responded to the 1900 Block of Fullerton Road regarding a call of shots being fired into a residence. Responding deputies arrived to observe the evidence of several shotgun rounds fired into the front of the manager's apartment. Windows were shattered and numerous expended shotgun rounds were scattered on the ground. A male who had been sleeping inside escaped unharmed.
Deputies immediately began searching for a suspect, but as of last night he remained on the loose. The suspect's identity also remained unknown.
This morning after follow-up, deputies acting on a tip, located and detained a male resident of the apartment complex. Deputies also found a shotgun possibly related to the crime.
Frank Vales, a 34 year old male, was arrested and booked at the Walnut / Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station. He was charged with assault with a firearm.
The motive remained unclear, but investigators were also following up on an earlier assault alleged by the apartment manager to have been committed by Mr. Vales the previous night.
