A man was arrested on Saturday morning after Carjacking an elderly woman at a local shopping center, in the 20700 block of Avalon Boulevard, in Carson.
On Saturday, January 2, 2016, at approximately 10:00am, Carson Sheriff's Station received a call regarding a person breaking car windows with a bat in the parking lot of the shopping center. When deputies arrived, they learned that the male-suspect had just carjacked an 80-year-old woman. The deputies were able to search the area and quickly locate the suspect as he attempted to flee in the victim's stolen vehicle. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.
Upon further investigation, deputies learned the suspect had burglarized another vehicle in the area in addition to the carjacking.
The victim was medically treated on scene and was in good condition.
The suspect, identified as Jawwaad Garner, 35-years-old/transient, was arrested for Carjacking and Burglary. He was transported to Carson Sheriff's Station where he was booked and being held in lieu of $100, 000 bail.
