On January 25, 2012, at 2:25 pm, the victim was assaulted by a male who attempted to stab him with a knife, in the area of Crescent Heights Boulevard/ Fountain Avenue, City of West Hollywood. The lone suspect was described in the report as possibly a male Black with a light complexion, transient in appearance, 35-45 years of age. The suspect made derogatory remarks to the victim regarding his sexual orientation.
On February 1, 2012, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Special Bulletin was circulated depicting a color photograph of a male wanted for questioning with regards to the assault. The picture depicted a male with a distinctive mustache, facial hair, sunglasses, and a Harley Davidson ball cap.
On February 7, 2012, at approximately 7:08 am, a West Hollywood Sergeant on patrol observed a male matching the description of the suspect, walking away from the 7-11 store located at La Cienega Boulevard and Holloway Drive. As the Sergeant approached the suspect, the male quickly walked into a parking structure. Responding units were able to locate the suspect and he was subsequently detained. The male resembled the wanted suspect with his mustache, facial hair, Harley Davidson ball cap, and sunglasses. The suspect was identified as Frazier Lee Vedin, male White, 51 years of age.
During an interview with the suspect, he admitted being involved in the altercation with the victim. Based on this information, detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney at Beverly Hills Court. The will also seek charges of Terrorist Threats and Hate Crime allegations
