On July 18, 2012 at 9:20 A.M., Diamond Bar deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at 22886 Hilton Head Drive, Diamond Bar. During a check of the residence, deputies noticed a suspicious object strongly resembling a pipe bomb in the closet. The immediate area was evacuated and the Arson/Explosive Detail was called to the scene. Utilizing specialized protective equipment and the Andros robot, the device was transferred to a safe position in the parking lot of the complex within a concrete trash can enclosure. The area was re-enforced with sandbags and the device was rendered safe. Upon examination, the device was comprised of a steel pipe with threaded caps attached to the ends. The only thing missing on this device was the explosive agent inside the pipe.
Suspect Ladd is on felony probation for narcotics violations and had a no bail warrant for possession of methamphetamine. The Suspect was additionally charged with possession of a hoax explosive device.
