As a 17 year old female was driving to Malibu High School on June 12, 2012, at approximately 6:30 a.m., she was stopped at a red light on Pacific Coast Highway and Webb Way. A 28 year old transient male entered her vehicle and told her to drive. The male suspect held the victim against her will for approximately two hours. The male suspect, who was now driving the female's vehicle, entered a gas station in the City of Malibu and a local resident noticed the female mouthing the words, "Help me!" The suspect then drove the vehicle away with the female still inside and the resident called 9-1-1. Lost Hills Deputies immediately starting searching for the vehicle, when Detective Greenwood was directed to the vehicle by another motorist on a turnout area on Kanan Road. The suspect was taken into custody and the victim was reunited with her family. The City of Malibu honored the local residents and Detective Greenwood for their quick actions, which ultimately led to the safe recovery of the female victim and the arrest of the suspect.
