Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, deputies from the Norwalk Sheriff's Station were alerted to a suspicious vehicle in the City of Norwalk. A check of the vehicle's license plate revealed that it was involved in an armed carjacking in the City of Cerritos on August 5, 2012.
The driver of the suspicious vehicle led deputies on a short vehicle pursuit, which ended when the suspect was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Alondra Boulevard and Elaine Avenue in the City of Norwalk. There were no significant injuries as a result of the traffic collision.
The suspect was identified as Ricky Navarro Ramirez, 23-years-old, from the City of Norwalk. The suspect is believed to have been involved in several armed carjacking's in the cities of Artesia, Cerritos and Norwalk over the past several weeks. He was booked at the Norwalk Sheriff's Station for several felony charges including, Vehicle Theft, Receiving Stolen Property and Evading. The suspect's bail amount has been set at $100,000.00
