Reserve Deputy Robert Friedman of the Lost Hills Sheriff Station was given the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Meritorious Service Award by Captain Joseph Stephen on July 31, 2012 for his work on the Pacific Coast Highway Traffic Safety Evaluation book. Reserve Deputy Friedman volunteered countless hours in compiling the Traffic Survey book, in which he gathered years of traffic survey data and photographed every intersection along the 27 miles of Pacific Coast Highway in the City of Malibu.
The Pacific Coast Highway Traffic Safety Evaluation book contains information about traffic volumes and speed zones, accident rates, enforcement, traffic fatal collision descriptors, and individual intersection analysis from 2005 to 2010.
