AUGUST CRIME TRENDS

PRESS RELEASE AUGUST CRIME TRENDS

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Temple Station provides law enforcement services to the cities of Bradbury, Duarte, Rosemead, South El Monte and Temple City, as well as the unincorporated county communities of South San Gabriel, El Monte, Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte (M.A.D.), East Pasadena, and North San Gabriel. Below you will find a summary of the reported crimes during the month of August for each of the listed communities.

During the past month, the statistics revealed a slight increase in theft related crimes within several of our communities, while a decrease was experienced in others. While we continue to analyze probable factors, no specific reason for the increase has been identified. The continued participation between the community and Temple Station continues to have an impact on the criminal element. The partnership has been a success, and the information you provide has aided in our ability to proactively address criminal trends and activities. Your efforts are a great help in keeping our neighborhoods, schools and business districts safe.

Please continue to be watchful over your senior citizen family members and neighbors. Unfortunately, they can often fall prey to fraudulent schemes and falsified charities and causes. Please take the time to educate and advise them to always request to see official identification. If you have any doubt, or the person refuses to adequately identify themselves, please call Temple Station immediately and request a deputy to respond. Please continue to monitor your neighborhood for suspicious activity, vehicles and/or persons. If you notice something or someone suspicious, report it immediately. The timeliness of your information increases our ability to make an apprehension and/or verify the person's legitimate presence or purpose in your neighborhood or business.

Vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries continue to be an area of concern. With the holiday season fast approaching, please remember to lock and secure your vehicle. Cover or hide the valuables you cannot take with you, especially laptop computers and navigational equipment. Consider indelibly marking your valuables or removable vehicle accessories with your drivers' license number. Never use your social security number to mark an item.

Temple Sheriff's Station's partnership with the community and local business remains our strongest asset in the fight against crime. Stay vigilant and if someone or something looks suspicious, call Temple Station at (626) 285-7171 or in the case of an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
