Attempted Kidnapping and Vehicle Pursuit

On May 1, 2013, deputies responded to a shopping center in the city of Carson in regards to a kidnapping in progress. The victim reported that a complete stranger tried to kidnap her. Store employees saw what was happening and called 9-1-1 to report the incident.



As deputies arrived on scene, the suspect fled in his car. Deputies went in pursuit of the suspect vehicle. The pursuit ended at the intersection of 135th Street and Avalon Boulevard when the suspect collided with another civilian vehicle. The civilian vehicle was over turned and the driver was injured and trapped. The suspect's vehicle caught fire. Deputies caught the suspect and took him into custody. Los Angeles County Firefighters responded to the scene and extracted the civilian driver and transported her to the hospital. The civilian driver is in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
