MP3 Players Help Rehabilitate Inmates

Female inmates at Century Regional Detention Facility are using MP3 players to listen to audiobooks, music and rehabilitation materials during their time in jail.

The music and other available contents are reviewed for offensive or inappropriate material. The personal audio devices are designed to promote relearning responsibility and increase self-esteem.

The MP3 players can be found in the Maximizing Education Reaching Individual Transformation (MERIT) dorms at CRDF. Participants are allowed to borrow the MP3 players.

This service has been available for 4 years through Inmate Services and is now overseen by the Education-Based Incarceration Bureau.
