On January 2, 2014, at approximately 2:30 pm, Los Angeles County Pico Rivera Sheriff's deputies responded to the 8400 block of Bradwell Avenue, Unincorporated Whittier, regarding an armed robbery that just occurred call. When deputies arrived they contacted the victim, a pizza delivery man, who told them he was robbed for two pizzas and U.S. currency.
The victim said he was delivering an order of pizzas when he was approached by the suspect who demanded all of his property at gun point. The victim feared for his life and gave the suspect his property. The suspect immediately fled on foot.
Deputy personnel searched the area and, based on the suspect's description given by the victim, detained 38-year-old Jesus Rivas. Suspect Rivas was located at a convenience store on Pioneer Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. When detained, Rivas was in possession of the stolen pizzas, U.S. currency and a black replica firearm.
Rivas, a Pico Rivera resident, was subsequently arrested for robbery and booked at Pico Rivera Sheriff's station in lieu of 100,000 dollars bail.
Rivas is believed to be responsible for three other similar robberies which occurred within Pico Rivera Station jurisdiction within the past week.
