Have a Safe July 4th
As we approach the 238th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, many of us will be planning celebrations with family and friends. As you enjoy the July 4th weekend, keep in mind that a fun filled get-together is not truly a success unless your guests and loved ones remain safe.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises that "200 people on average go the emergency room every day with fireworks-related injuries in the month around the July 4th holiday."(1). If you are planning a celebration in the Walnut, Diamond Bar or Rowland Heights areas, please remember that the personal use of fireworks of any kind is NOT permitted.
However, several communities throughout the area sponsor Patriotic Firework displays. Notably, the cities of Diamond Bar and Walnut each sponsor 4th of July Celebrations featuring family friendly activities, live music and a spectacular fireworks displays. Admission to these events is free.
