Information Detail
On July 6 2014, a credit card was stolen from a vehicle in Rancho Palos Verdes and later used to make a purchase at the "Target Store" in San Pedro. Security cameras captured video of two suspects. Detective Todd Hoy reviewed the video and immediately recognized the primary suspect from previous encounters. Detective Hoy and his colleagues served a search warrant at the primary suspect's residence and arrested three suspects for multiple offenses. Detective Hoy ultimately recovered mail and credit cards belonging to over 100 victims in 27 cities throughout Southern California, and 4 additional states. With his investigation and arrests, Detective Hoy eliminated an extensive identity theft criminal enterprise in the South Bay. On the same date, July 6, a Burglary occurred at the Islamic Center of the South Bay. Stolen items included flat screen T.V.'s and a wireless microphone. Fortunately the Burglary was captured on video. When the videotape was reviewed by Detective Hoy, once again he immediately recognized the primary suspect. Detective Hoy and his colleagues arrested the suspect and his accomplice, served search warrants at two locations, and recovered the flat screen T.V's and wireless microphone.
Detective Todd Hoy received the Attorney General's Commendation for his tireless efforts leading to the apprehension of these criminals. His intimate knowledge of the communities served by Lomita Sheriff's Station led to the arrest of several felons and recovery of stolen property and compromised identities. Our communities are safer today in large part because of Detective Hoy's outstanding police work!
