Become part of the Walnut/Diamond Bar Station Volunteer Community.
Have you ever wanted to support your local Sheriff's deputies with your time and talent, but didn't know where to start? Below you will find opportunities such as the Sheriff's Deputy Explorer program, Sheriff's Reserve Forces Bureau, Volunteers on Patrol (VOP's) and the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Booster Club.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Explorer program
If you are between the ages of 14 and 21, and you have an interest in learning more about law enforcement, consider joining the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Explorer program. Its primary purpose is to provide young men and women education and hands-on experience. You'll be providing vital support to the Sheriff's Department, to your family and community, and may even earn high school credits along the way. For additional information regarding the Explorer Program, please contact the Sergeant Mark Saldecke at 909-859-2859 or via email at mcsaldec@lasd.org.
Reserve Deputy Sheriffs
Reserve Deputy Sheriffs are utilized to supplement the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's law enforcement manpower. Like full-time Deputies, Reserve Deputies are professionally trained and duly sworn law enforcement personnel. In most cases, Reserves are assigned to the same duties as Full-time Deputies. Since Reserve Deputies have the same powers of arrest as Full-time Deputies they are required by law to meet the same hiring, background, medical and psychological standards as Full-time Deputies. For additional information regarding the Reserve Deputy Program, contact Sergeant Mark Saldecke at 909-859-2859 or via email at mcsaldec@lasd.org or go to Reserve Forces Bureau
Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Booster Club
Since 1987, the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Booster Club has provided thousands of dollars to the Reserves and Volunteers in the cities of Diamond Bar and Walnut as well as the communities of Covina Hills and Rowland Heights, to finance needs not funded by the County, Cities or Sheriff's Department. Equipment, supplies and training expenses are only some of the items funded by the Booster Club. Your membership in the Booster Club will help ensure that needed funding for volunteer and auxiliary programs within the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station is available to help protect our communities and provide a high degree of safety for our citizens. For additional information regarding the Booster Club, please contact Sergeant Mark Saldecke at 909-859-2859 or via email at WAL/DBVolunteerEmail@lasd.org.
Volunteers on Patrol (VOP's)
Volunteers on Patrol (VOP's) is a team of community-spirited citizens performing non-hazardous patrol duties including: residential vacation checks, park safety checks, conducting traffic control, issuing parking citations, and performing directed patrol assignments. The VOP's patrol the cities of Walnut and Diamond Bar, and the unincorporated County areas of Covina Hills and Rowland Heights. For additional information regarding the Volunteer Program, please contact Sergeant Mark Saldecke at 909-859-2859 or via email at WAL/DBVolunteerEmail@lasd.org.
