39th Annual Los Angeles County Memorial Torch Run Honors Fallen Peace Officers
On Friday, May 13, 2016, Walnut/Diamond Bar Station personnel and friends participated in the Sheriff Department's 39th Annual Memorial Torch Run. This three day, 313 mile relay is dedicated to honoring the memory of the brave and dedicated peace officers in Los Angeles County who sacrificed their lives in the performance of their duties.
The event begins at the Hall of Justice in Los Angeles and traverses a route throughout Los Angeles County, passing each of the 24 mainland Sheriff Stations concluding at the Altadena Sheriff Station. The route is divided into 58 sections ranging from 4 to 12 miles in length. The Memorial Torch is carried throughout the relay and will ultimately be presented at the Los Angeles County Peace Officer's Memorial Ceremony on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, where it will be used to ignite the Memorial Flame.
On Friday, May 13, 2016 at 3:00 PM, Walnut/Diamond Bar Station personnel, friends and family began the first of two legs at the intersection of Fairplex Drive in the City of Pomona where they received the Memorial torch from San Dimas Station relay runners.
