Off-leash dogs / Dog Waste Removal

09/09/2012

West Hollywood City Hall has asked that the Sheriff's Department take a "no tolerance" policy regarding dogs being off-leash and dog owners not taking care of their dog's waste. West Hollywood residents have made their complaints known to City Hall asking for increased enforcement.

Residents are encouraged to pick up your pet's waste every single time. Animal waste contains disease-causing pathogens and harmful chemicals and nutrients, that when left on the ground, wash down storm drains and contaminate local waterways and beaches. There is a City and County ordinance, which bans dog owners from leaving animal waste on public or private property. If an owner disregards this law they may be fined.

West Hollywood residents are also advised to keep their dogs on a leash. For everyone's safety (especially your dog's safety), pet owners are cautioned to be sure a leash is used when on a walk. At Hart Off-Leash Park, dogs are to be off-leash only when inside the fenced area.
