Deputies Exchange Gunfore with Suspects, Four Arrests, Deputy Wounded
The two deputies were on patrol when they heard the sound of an assault weapon being fired nearby. They drove toward the sound and observed a gunshot victim lying on the street. Simultaneously, the deputies saw the suspect vehicle speeding away. During the pursuit, the suspect in the passenger seat leaned out the car window and began to shoot at the pursuing deputies with an AK-47 type assault rifle.

On a recent traffic stop, deputies from Century Station recovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol stolen 17 years ago.

On January 30, 2013, Century Station deputies assigned to the Lynwood Community Oriented Policing Team noticed a significant amount of fresh graffiti in the southwest portion of the city. New Year’s Eve Gunfire Down Thanks In Part to ShotSpotter
Between the hours of 10:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 2:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day, a total of 13 ShotSpotter activations for gunfire were recorded. Shooting Suspect Arrested
In September of 2011, detectives from Century OSS were assigned a gang related shooting wherein three females were shot in the Firestone/Florence area. The intended victim was a known gang member and the suspect was believed to be an opposing gang member. A .45 caliber handgun was used in the shooting.
