LASD Sheriff logoCongratulations to Team Compton in the 120-mile relay race to Las Vegas also known as Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup
Compton Station deputies competed in the annual 120-mile relay race to Las Vegas this weekend also known as the Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay. The Baker to Vegas Relay is the most positive event offered to law enforcement today. It provides officers motivation to maintain a physical fitness program to help them better perform their duties. The race has maintained its original ideals since it began in 1985 by focusing on teamwork, camaraderie, physical fitness and competition. The number of participating teams have grown from the original 19 in 1985 to nearly 300 which includes over 8000 runners. It is the largest event of its kind with teams participating from throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Out of 272 teams, Compton placed 62nd overall. Since there so many participants, teams are categorized. Compton competed in the station category and placed sixth out of 25 teams. This relay is highly competitive so, this was a significant improvement from previous years. Congratulations Team Compton!!!
