The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, in partnership with Crime Survivors, is providing all Sheriff's Department field personnel a "Resource Guide for Survivors of Violent Crime." The resource guide was developed by Crime Survivors' Founder and Director, Patricia Wenskunas in conjunction with The California Victim Compensation Program. The Resource Guide will be provided to victims by Sheriff's Deputies to assist victims with the following: locating an advocate, crisis support, understanding victim's rights, financial assistance resources emphasizing the goal of helping a victim in their healing and recovery. "It is my pleasure to partner with Los Angeles County Sheriff John L. Scott and Patricia Wenskunas, to develop the Resources for Survivors of Violent Crime in Los Angeles County," said Julie Nauman, Executive Officer of the California Victim Compensation Program (CalVCP).
In a joint statement Sheriff John L. Scott and Julie Nauman (CalVCP) stated, "These resource guides are a valuable, comprehensive resource for survivors in their time of greatest need and include vital information on how to get the additional help they need. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is proud of our ongoing relationships with Crime Survivors and the California Victim Compensation Program as they carry out their mission to provide hope and healing to victims through advocacy and the support of resources."
The "Resource Guide for Survivors of Violent Crimes" will be distributed to deputy sheriffs assigned to field operations in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department who will then provide them to victims and their families.
