This month, East Los Angeles Station took the challenge of a friendly basketball game against Our Lady of Lourdes School. Teens from our Youth Activities League played against youth from Our Lady of Lourdes School. Also, personnel from our station played against the staff of the school. It was a very close game, but East Los Angeles Station narrowly won the game.
A free throw contest was held between East Los Angeles Station Captain James Wolak and Principal Corena Marasco. The player who made the most free throws in a minute received a "Golden Basketball." The trophy basketball signifies a beginning of a tradition between our station and the school, and each year's winner will have the trophy for a year. In the end, Captain Wolak won the free throw contest, and East Los Angeles Station will hold the trophy this year.
All players and spectators had an outstanding time. We had great halftime entertainment with a cheerleading performance by the girls of Our Lady of Lourdes School. A live band played classic rock music throughout the event. The event was a positive experience, where law enforcement and a local school came together for an enjoyable occasion.
