LA County Sheriff's Department Consular CredentialsAmong the multiple duties of SHB’s International Liaison Unit is the issuance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Consular Credentials. These identification cards are only provided to foreign diplomats assigned to live and work in the County of Los Angeles, who meet very specific criteria. For example, they must be holders of A-1 and A-2 visas issued by the U.S. Department of State. Specifically, this includes Consuls Generals, Deputy Consuls General, Consuls, Vice-Consuls, Honorary Consuls and Consuls Emeritus. Having issued these credentials for over 20 years, the LASD Consular Credentials are a well-recognized supplementary form of identification for diplomats working in the County of Los Angeles. Law Enforcement agencies and other County entities are able to verify the bearer by the photograph, name, and diplomatic post inscribed on the card.
