Recently, a local volunteer was recognized at a formal Ceremony held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors presented Dean l. LeCesne with the Sheriff's Department, "Volunteer of the Year" award and recognition.
Dean is the lead volunteer at the Walnut/Diamond Bar Station. He became a Sheriff's Department Volunteer in 2006, and has contributed over 16,500 hours of service. Dean's duties include working with station detectives on a program for domestic violence victims, and 290 sex registrants. He also assists with Neighborhood Watch and the Station's Emergency Operations Center. Dean had an active role in the recent station 25th anniversary beautification project by redecorating the public lobby. Dean has also played the role of Santa Claus at the Lanterman Developmental Center's Holiday party.
Volunteer LeCesne displays a high level of professionalism, compassion and commitment every day at work. His uniform appearance is always immaculate, his demeanor always positive, and he genuinely cares about the station personnel.
