Although we honor their memory and sacrifice every day, the month of May brings a special time each year when the law enforcement community comes together with family members, friends, dignitaries, community leaders , elected officials, and the community to recognize and remember our fallen heroes in special memorial ceremonies locally and throughout the Nation.
Throughout the month of May, Crescenta Valley Deputies will participate in several memorial events in remembrance of fallen comrades at home and abroad. Paying personal tribute to all the law enforcement officers who have given their life in the line of duty and their families who have lost their sons, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers or other loved ones.
This year, Crescenta Valley Station continued its tradition of participation in The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's 2013 Memorial Torch Relay Run, which ended on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
The memorial torch that the runners carry along the course will ultimately be used by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca to light the ceremonial flame in the Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Sheriff's Training Academy and Regional Service (STARS) Center in Whittier, California.
