A man drowned in North Lake at Earvin "Magic" Johnson Park



On May 3, 2013 at 9:37 AM, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Park Bureau responded to Earvin "Magic" Johnson Park regarding a possible drowning victim. When the deputies arrived, they were contacted by witnesses who said they saw a male take off his clothes and enter the water of the North Lake. A short time later, he was seen yelling for help, and then disappeared under the water. The deputies started to search the water for the victim. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded with their dive team and after a brief search, the male adult was found unresponsive. He was transported to a local Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the drowning and death is under investigation.
