In the evening hours of Wednesday, June 19, 2013, Industry Sheriff's Station Summer Violent Crime Enforcement Team deputies saw males igniting what they believed to be illegal fireworks in the street on the 1400 block of Sandia Avenue. Three males were subsequently arrested for being in possession of illegal fireworks.
After further investigation, Deputies saw an open residential garage which contained what they believed to be numerous boxes of illegal fireworks. A subsequent search warrant was served at the residence.
As a result of the search warrant, approximately 3,000 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized. The names of the three suspects are not being released at this time, since this is an on-going investigation. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and took possession of the seizure.
Members of the public are reminded about the seriousness of possessing illegal fireworks and are encouraged to report such activity to their local law enforcement agency.
