On Tuesday, August 6, 2013, the communities of La Crescenta, Montrose and La Canada Flintridge joined forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 30th Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.
National Night Out, which is co-sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Crescenta Valley Station, will involve over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and Military bases around the world. In all, over 37 million people were expected to participate in "America's Night Out Against Crime."
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; (4) Send a message to the criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Out program culminates annually, on the first Tuesday of August.
Crescenta Valley Station hosted its event from 6-8 P.M. It was held in the parking lot of Ralph's Fresh Air Market in La Crescenta.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Department Personnel along with community groups were there to support National Night Out.
Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station thanks all those that participated and attended this event to make it a great success.
