Parks Bureau Thanks the Community for their support in this year’s “Walk for Life”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departments Parks Bureau would like to extend their gratitude for all those members of the community who attended this year's "Walk for Life." There were over 300 participants in the approximate 1.5 mile walk from Helen Keller Park to Earvin "Magic" Johnson Park. The crowd grew at the conclusion of the walk where approximately 700 children and adults enjoyed the entertainment and joined in the numerous activities. The purpose of the day's activities was to promote peace and safety in our parks and communities.

The "Walk for Life" ended a week of National Night Out events throughout the country. National Night Out began in 1984 in an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

This event has continued to grow each year and could not be the success it has become without the help of the many Community Based Organizations that lend their support.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Departments Parks Bureau is dedicated to providing a safe and drug free environment at all Los Angeles County Parks.
