Montrose Search & Rescue Operation finds missing woman who had been missing for 11 days

On August 29, 2013, at approximately 7:55 PM hours, Crescenta Valley Station's Montrose Search and Rescue responded to the Switzers Falls area, in the Angeles National Forest, regarding a young girl (No further details), who had been seen near the creek all day.



The Informant believed the young girl was actually Shameca Johnson FW/24 who was a missing person out of Placentia, but deputies were unable to confirm who the woman was. Despite ground search until 1:00 AM, the team was unable to locate the woman. The search was postponed until day light at 7:00AM on August 30, 2013.



A Countywide Search and Rescue request, along with Aero, search/scent dogs, Forestry and Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team along with support personnel were requested.



A few hours after the search started (at approximately 10:45 AM) the woman found turned out to be the missing female from Placentia. She was found in good physical condition and was re-united with her family who were at the Command Post.



Placentia Police Department is handling the missing person investigation.
