On October 29, 2013, at 0545 hours, Cerritos deputies responded to 10801 Artesia Blvd. regarding a theft of a "Cargo Box" truck, along with $27,000 of children's clothing located within the vehicle trailer. It was determined possible suspect information, including a potential address, was left behind at the crime scene. Further investigation revealed the stolen vehicle and merchandise was located outside a South Gate residential address.
Cerritos deputies observed the suspect exit his residence and enter the stolen vehicle. Assisted by South Gate Police Department, Cerritos deputies initiated a traffic stop and arrested the driver, who is on active probation. The clothing merchandise was also recovered from the truck.
The suspect (MH/22) was booked at Cerritos Station for Grand Theft Auto (487(d)(1) P.C.) Follow-up investigation will be conducted by Cerritos Station Detective Bureau.
