On Tuesday, December 24, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, County Services Bureau held their first annual Toy Giveaway for over 100 underprivileged children at Health Services South.
Lieutenant Cynthia Conner, Liaison Lieutenant from Health Services South, organized the event. "In addition to putting a smile on children's faces at Christmas, the toy drive strengthens police relationships in our communities and neighborhoods and gives children a chance to interact with a uniformed officer," said Conner.
The children were visited by Sheriff Department personnel as they waited to be treated or while they entered the hospital and were presented with gifts.
Lieutenant Conner stated, "We hand pick underprivileged families to distribute the toys to. The personal satisfaction felt by those involved in the toy giveaway is outweighed only by the joy they're able to provide to these deserving children." The event wouldn't be possible without donations from Mattel and the dedication of our sworn and civilian staff and leadership.
