LAC+USC Medical Center, Deputy Willie A. Lloyd Represents County Services Bureau at 38TH Annual California Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony

On Wednesday, May 5, 2014, Deputy Willie A. Lloyd, assigned to County Service Bureau at LAC+USC Medical Center and a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Mounted Enforcement Detail (M.E.D.), was selected as one of six M.E.D. members to attend the 38TH Annual Fallen Officers Memorial in the State's Capital of Sacramento.

Deputy Lloyd and his 17 year old Quarter Horse Equine Partner, The Colonel, and five other M.E.D. members took the over 380 mile trip to participate in California's largest Memorial Ceremony for Fallen Peace Officers.

Deputy Lloyd said, "This was an experience I will never forget."

The Monument

I never dreamed it would be me,

My name for all eternity,

Recorded here at this hallowed place,

Alas, my name, no more my face.

"In the line of duty," I hear them say;

My family now the price will pay.

My folded flag stained with their tears;

We only had those few short years.

The badge no longer on my chest,

I sleep now in eternal rest.

My sword I pass to those behind,

And pray they keep this thought in mind.

I never dreamed it would be me,

And with heavy heart and bended knee;

I ask for all here from the past,

Dear God, let my name be the last.
