Training:



On average, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Community Emergency Response Team training (CERT) Program conducts the CERT Basic Training Course approximately 20 times a year.

Number of individuals who have completed CERT Basic Training Course since the program started is over: 10,000

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's CERT Programs offer training to the general public and/or to particular groups in the community. This CERT Program holds classes for the following groups:

Over 2000 Community Emergency Response Teams have participated in 6 Weapons of Mass Destruction/Terrorism exercises for emergency personnel.

Over 1500 Community Emergency Response Teams have participated in 5 natural disaster exercises for emergency personnel.

Over 7000 Community Emergency Response Teams have participated in 30 CERT-specific exercises.

Additional CERT Program Information

Over 4000 Sheriff Volunteers serve countywide and from as early as 1999 over 700 volunteers have joined LASD CERT.



The Sheriff's Department CLEPP Unit manages all Department wide training of the FEMA CERT Course and other emergency preparedness training within areas we serve. Working with other county cities and agencies the LASD CERT Program works to maintain guidelines in accordance with the Office of Emergency Management and California Volunteers.
