A deputy assigned to the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station's Crime Prevention Team conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle near Sand Canyon Road and the Antelope Valley 14 Freeway, Canyon Country, yesterday.
It was determined that the driver of the vehicle, Moises Marroquin, was unlicensed and he was detained. Through further investigation, deputies saw indications of narcotic activity and searched the suspect vehicle.
A narcotics canine was called to the location to conduct an additional search of the vehicle. The dog indicated on narcotics hidden inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Deputies recovered approximately one kilogram of cocaine and kilogram of methamphetamine from inside the vehicle.
The suspect, Moises Marroquin, Hispanic male 06-02-1986, of Las Vegas Nevada was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony charges of possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for sales and transportation of cocaine and methamphetamine. He is being held without bail and is due in San Fernando Superior Court on March 1, 2012.
The street resale value of the cocaine is estimated to be approximately $32,000. The street value of the methamphetamine is estimated to be approximately $20,000.
