Man arrested for attempting to Abduct a 5 year old boy

At approximately 8:30 P.M., the 5 year old victim was on the sidewalk OF THE 1400 Block of Miller Avenue when an dark skin older male hispanic suspect walked up pushing a shopping cart. The suspect offered the victim some candy. The victim approached the suspect in order to take the candy when the suspect pulled on the victim's shirt pulling the victim closer to him.

The victim pulled away from the suspect and ran hysterically into his residence where he told his grandmother of what had just occurred. The grandmother went outside to confront the suspect but he had already left in an unknown direction.

In the morning of 8-4-2012, the victim and his uncle were driving around the area and saw the suspect near the intersections of City Terrace and Hazard Avenue. They called the East Los Angeles Sheriff's Station. Deputies arrived and took the suspect into custody.

East Los Angeles Station detectives will handle this investigation.
