RANCHO LOS AMIGOS NATIONAL REHABILITATION FIRST ANNUAL CAR SHOW

A brand new car show usually takes a couple of years to get established. The organizers of the First Annual "Rebuilding Cars, Rebuilding Lives" car show seem to know what they're doing. Their first event was a big success. 160+ pre-1976 customs, street rods, vintage cars, and handicap accessible vehicles covered the front parking lot at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, California, a leading innovator and provider of rehabilitation services since 1951. Today, inpatient and outpatient admissions number more than 80,000 a year.

Along with 14 regular awards like Best Hot Rod", "Best Custom", and "Best Paint" which were officially judged, 6 special awards were judged by Rancho's Brain Injury Staff and patients including "Patient's Choice", "Children's Choice", "Best Accessible Vehicle". The trophies were some of the most unique I've ever seen. Many of the car show participants came to "pay back" for services they or a friend had received at "Rancho".

4 amazing food trucks were on-hand for nourishment. D J Javier kept the mood upbeat all day. "Rancho" hopes that this Car Show will be the beginning of a new tradition of annual Rancho Car Shows for the community. The event was presented in association with the Rancho Los Amigos Brain Injury Service and the L.A. County Sheriff's Department County Services Bureau.

Proceeds go toward rebuilding lives at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.
