April 29, 2013, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputies commemorated the eleventh anniversary of the death of Deputy David March. Sheriff's Deputies stood vigil for 24 hours in remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice of one of their own.
On April 29th 2002, Deputy David March was working patrol when he effected a traffic stop on a career criminal who fatally shot Deputy March.
The suspect fled the country and hid in Mexico for several years. He was eventually extradited from Mexico and pled guilty for murdering Deputy March and is now serving his sentence in a California Prison.
