Captain Eliezer Vera

Eliezer Vera, a 24-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and assigned to the South Los Angeles Sheriff Station. South Los Angeles Station services the city of Lawndale, and the unincorporated areas of West Athens, Westmont, Wiseburn, Del Aire, El Camino Village and Moneta Gardens.

Captain Vera's career with the Sheriff's Department began in 1988. After graduating from the Sheriff's Training Academy as a Deputy Sheriff, he was assigned to the Men Central Jail. In 1991, he was loaned out to the Special Investigation Bureau's Motorcycle Task Force. In 1992 he transferred to Lynwood Station and later to Century Station. In 2001, he was assigned to Detective Division's Cargo Theft Criminal Apprehension Team. Later that year, he promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to Lennox Station patrol and the Crime Impact Teams at both Lennox and Compton Stations. In 2006, Captain Vera was assigned to the Office of the Sheriff, until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2008, where he was assigned to Century Station and the Special Enforcement Bureau.

Captain Vera is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served as a Presidential Honor Guard for former President Ronald W. Reagan. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the American Military University, West Virginia.

Captain Vera is a lifelong resident of Southern California. In his spare time, Captain Vera enjoys spending time with his family, participating in church events and personal fitness.
