Custody Canine Program Comes to CRDF
A new program has reached Century Regional Detention Facility and it comes in the form of a canine.
The Los Angeles County jails are testing the "Custody Canine Program," which allows inmates to learn how to apply canine training and prepare the dogs for adoption. This program is running successfully at Men's Central Jail, which is offered through the Education Based Incarceration Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
At CRDF, a dog named "Justice" now resides in an inmate module.
One inmate stated, "Having the dog in the dorm brightens up my day and makes me feel a sense of purpose while I'm here."
Although "Justice" is not up for adoption, she creates a positive environment for the inmates and has been called a "therapy tool."
