On December 12, 2013, South Los Angeles Station conducted a "Blanket, Pillow and Food" giveaway operation. Deputy personnel were able to provide over 80 families with blankets, pillows, clothing and food items for the holiday season. The items were donated by the Hilton Hotel Chain and other public entities. The event was coordinated by "Health Right 360" in conjunction with the Department's Community Transition Unit. The event was extremely successful. As Sheriff's Department personnel distributed the items to the indigent families, they all took the time to personally thank us for the needed items. South Los Angeles Station personnel will be providing additional blankets, pillows and clothing to St. Margaret's Center in the community of Lennox and to Centinela Baptist Church in the city of Lawndale. A special thanks to the Hilton Hotel chain, Health Right 360, Captain Vera, Lt. Alvarez, Sgt. Eguia, Sgt. R. Garcia and Deputy Jun.
